Our Story

Kelly and Alisha
Girls Love Toast started with two best friends, a recovery center, and a really good piece of toast.

We're Alisha & Kelly! Best friends, "twins", and partners in life, love, business, crime, and everything in between. We met through Flatirons Recovery Center, a residential treatment facility, in 2025. At the time, both of our lives had become completely unmanageable, fueled by anxiety and alcohol, and we each came to treatment looking for a different way to live. Turns out, we also found each other.

Kelly had always loved cooking for people, but residential treatment was the first time she had to learn how to cook for just herself. Inspired by Denver’s own Carrie Baird — our unofficial patron saint of fancy toast — she started making elaborate toasts in the kitchen at Recovery Ranch for her and her roommates. Not long after Alisha's graduation, Kelly made her the toast now known as “Recovery Ranch Toast” for lunch in WY, and everything suddenly clicked. Alisha, being an amazing cook, was immediately FILLED with ideas. Hyped up by the song "Girls Love Toast" by The Holdup that frequents our playlists, we came up with our entire concept that same day.

Then, we went all in. Kelly sold her house and left her career as a Senior UX Designer at Amazon. Alisha gave up her day care business and uprooted her kids to move from Wyoming to Colorado. Along the way, we accidentally fell in love, moved in together, and started creating the kind of life we never thought was possible - one built around food, creativity, community, and connection. Today, we spend most of our time concocting new recipes, feeding our recovery family, dancing in the kitchen, laughing way too hard, and trying not to burn the toast!

Girls Love Toast is more than a food truck to us. It’s proof that people can change, joy can come back, and community can save lives.

No matter who you are, where you come from, or how your day is going — you have 2 "gay aunts" that love you and are happy you are here! Feeding people is how we show our love, and we can’t wait to share that with you.

Gorgeous family

We're kind of obsessed with our partners.

We’re passionate about partnering with local companies that share our values and help make your toast ridiculously delicious. Huge love to our incredible community of partners — Girls Love Toast wouldn’t exist without you.
